Abstract

Struma ovarii is a mature monodermal ovarian teratoma derived from a germ cell type of low incidence, representing 5% of mature teratomas. In most cases, it is asymptomatic, although sometimes it tends to debut with abdominal involvement. We report the case of a patient with a pelvic mass accompanied by ascites, elevated CA-125, and pleural effusion, which reversed after surgery, constituting pseudo-Meigs syndrome. In addition, a systematic literature review was conducted on the subject to highlight the importance of including struma ovarii among the differential diagnoses in these types of patients.
