Abstract

Cancer-associated thrombosis is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in cancer patients; it has an incidence of 13.9 per 1000 person years, representing the second cause of mortality in this group of patients. Due to advances in understanding the pathophysiology of cancer and the increasingly strong evidence in favor of new directacting oral anticoagulants over other anticoagulants, a change has been developed in the management  paradigm forpatients with this condition, which in the long run is reflected in better adherence and lower treatment costs, as well as an improvement in the quality of life of these patients. Despite this, due to the complexity of the cancer patient, it is good practice to individualize each patient, giving them the management that best suits their needs.
