Abstract

Horseshoe kidney (HSK) is the most common congenital renal fusion anomaly. Incidence of renal cell tumor in horseshoe kidney is similar to that of patients with normal-structure kidneys; however, the risk of developing transitional cell cancer increases 2 to 6 times. The presence of any renal malformation may change the surgical treatment plan, where an organ-sparing surgery is sought. Two clinical cases of tumors (clear cell renal carcinoma and urothelial carcinoma) in horseshoe kidneys are described, which underwent open and laparoscopic radical heminephrectomy.
