PET/CT con F18-FDG estadificación inicial en paciente con cáncer de esófago

Resumen

El cáncer de esófago por lo general se manifiesta como enfermedad en estadio avanzado, en el proceso de estadificación la ventaja más importante de la tomografía por emisión de positrones (18 F-FDG PET/CT) es su capacidad para detectar metástasis sistémicas, ofreciendo cambios en la terapia en aproximadamente un tercio de los pacientes ya que estos casos no son elegibles para manejo quirúrgico.
